Utah Governors’ Emergency Declarations
This page is under construction, but the information that is here is pretty good. This note will be removed once the page is completed. 🙂
From time to time, it is necessary for the governor of Utah to make an executive order declaring a state of emergency for the Beehive State. The executive order is a critical step if the state were to make a request for a major disaster declaration. But the order also gives the governor certain emergency powers. See the following relevant sections of State Code:
Emergency Management Act
- 53-2a-204: Use of state resources, suspending some services and requesting federal assistance
- 53-2a-206: State of Emergency declaration
- 53-2a-207: Authorized expenditures within the Department of Public Safety
